WESTFIELD ROTARY CLUB WELCOMES BETTY SPIROPOULOS AS NEW MEMBER

On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the regular weekly Rotary meeting, the Rotary Club of Westfield NJ inducted new member Betty Spiropoulos. She is the branch manager of Ocean First Bank on South Ave., Westfield. Rotary is a business networking and service club for successful business people who wish to “give back” to their communities
Betty has been in Banking for 30 years in different levels of the banking industry. Banking is her passion, as she loves to help people with their financial needs in providing solutions. She considers herself very fortunate to work for Ocean First Bank, a Community Bank that allows her to go out into our communities and meet and volunteer in organizations. She became a member of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary in 2008 and then the Newark Rotary Club in 2015. Betty has 2 adult children.
Last year the Rotary Club of Westfield awarded $117,400 in college scholarships to Westfield students, and donated $31,400 in community grants to local charities. The main projects for the club are helping homeless veterans and feeding the food insecure in the area. The club does many other projects, such as buying medical supplies for a clinic in Nigeria, hosting a Global Scholar from Australia, sending aid to the Ukraine, and collecting used bicycles to send to the third world. The Westfield Club has 49 members, and there are 1.3 million Rotarians in 33,000 Rotary clubs in 166 countries worldwide.
The Rotary Club of Westfield meets three times per month. In addition, the club does approximately one to two service projects per month. Guests are always welcome. FIVE ROTARY CLUBS BAN TOGETHER TO HELP VETERANS

Rotary Clubs of Morristown, Westfield, Watchung-Warren, Hillsborough and Somerset Hills have been collaborating on this worthy initiative assisting the homeless veterans at Community Hope Shelter and veterans housed at Valley Brook Village, both at Lyons VA. Recently, the 5 clubs completed a full year of distributions to our Veterans at Lyons VA delivering a total of 128 duffel bags filled with essentials, 50 flight jackets, 45 cell phone charging stations, 60 pairs of sweatpants & sweatshirts, 47 pairs of thermals, over 500 pairs of socks, 67 pairs of thermals, 17 blankets, 45 winter coats, 56 pairs of sneakers, 480 hot meals, over 150 pairs of boots, close to a 1000 thank you cards, hats, scarfs, gloves and more.
