Hello Fellow Rotarians,
 
According to the District Manual of Procedure, adopted at the District Voting meeting on May 6, 2024, club suggestions for District Governor 2027 - 2028 are now being accepted (6.1 Club Suggestions for Governor).  
 
Club suggestions will be accepted until Monday, September 30, 2024.  Nominations received after that date will not be accepted. The suggestions shall be submitted by a resolution naming the suggested candidate adopted at a regular club meeting and certified by the club secretary. A club shall only suggest one of its own members. Each club may only suggest one nominee.  A sample resolution is available upon request.
 
Per the Rotary International 2022 Manual of Procedure, the qualifications are as follows:
16.010. Qualifications of a Governor-nominee.
Unless excused by the board, the person selected as a governor-nominee shall at the time of selection:
  1. (a)  be a member in good standing of a functioning club in the district;
  2. (b)  have served as club president for a full term or as charter president for at least six months;
  3. (c)  demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a governor in section 16.030.;
  4. (d)  demonstrate knowledge of the qualifications, duties, and responsibilities of governor as prescribed in the bylaws; and
  5. (e)  submit to RI a statement that the Rotarian understands those qualifications, duties, and responsibilities, is qualified for the office of governor, and is willing and able to assume and faithfully perform those duties and responsibilities. 
16.020. Qualifications of a Governor.
Unless excused by the board, a governor, when taking office, must have attended the international assembly for its full duration, have been a Rotarian for at least seven years, and continue to possess the qualifications in section 16.010. 
 
6.12 Summary of Nomination Committee Timeline   (According to the District Manual of Procedure)
Governor informs clubs they have August 1 – September 30 to submit nominations for governor
September 30 – Deadline for clubs to suggest candidates to chair
By October 15 – Governor appoints the rest of the committee
By November 15 – Committee meets and interviews all candidates
24 hours after adjournment of nominating committee meeting – Chair notifies governor of results
3 days after governor is notified – governor informs clubs of selection of governor-nominee designate
15 days after club notice – if no challenge is presented, governor declares the candidate as the nominee-designate.
 International Convention – RI approves election of nominee-designates, who then become district governor-nominees
