District Learning Assembly

The 2024 District Learning Assembly (DLA) will be held from April 29 – May 14 on weeknights mostly via Zoom. We are honored to have RI Director-elect Chris Etienne kick off our first session at 7 PM on Monday, April 29th with inspiring words. We invite district leaders and allmembers to learn about the Rotary Action Plan, growing our clubs, boosting our public image efforts, leveraging The Rotary Foundation to increase our impact, handling conflicts, managing risks, and much more in these nine sessions. Global Scholar - Vani Verma
 
In June 2023, our District awarded a Global Scholarship of $30,000 to 2nd Lt. Vani Verma to pursue a Master's degree in cancer research at the University College, London.  The primary focus of her research will be on how to increase the accessibility and affordability of cancer therapies and treatments. Her research falls under the Rotary's Area of Focus " Disease Prevention and Treatment".   
 
In May 2023, Vani graduated with honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a BSc in Life Science. She was then commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, branching in military intelligence. Vani is a 2019 graduate of Montgomery High School.  Her career goal is to be able to impact health care within communities at a global scale.  This scholarship represents how well Rotarians contributions are helping to make this world a better place.  Vani has been keeping us updated on her studies in London and also her interaction with the Rotarians in the UK.

Global Scholar David McMillan
David McMillan, one of the Districts Global Scholars for Rotary year 2023–2024 has sent us a wonderful report on his activities and studies at the University of Oxford.  Click here and see how your Annual Fund giving is helping us to support these scholars and thus make the world a better place.  The District awarded two Global Scholarships last year.   Stay tuned for another report from 2nd lieutenant US Army Vani Verma who is studying at University College in London.

Rotary District 7475 has declared the organization to be stigma-free as of March 24, 2021.  The goal is to eliminate stigma associated with mental health and substance use disorders through education and creating awareness. Working within the mission of Rotary District 7475, Rotary seeks to create working relationships with its communities and counties it to help people overcome resistance to seeking help by eliminating the stigma that often makes people feel overwhelmed.
