WESTFIELD RC COLLLECTS FOOD FOR IDA VICTIMS
Submitted by Liz Ensslin (liz@theinkwellusa.com)

The Rotary Club of Westfield continues its weekly collection of sandwiches and non-perishable foods for Saint Joseph Social Service Center in Elizabeth. Sadly, hundreds of families were displaced from their homes after Storm Ida wreaked havoc last week. Many people have been placed in hotels so this week’s collection focused on “hotel-friendly” food that can be prepared in a microwave.

Westfield Rotarians have been collecting food weekly since last March when the pandemic began.

WESTFIELD RC SUPPORTS HOMELESS VETERANS PROJECT
Submitted by Liz Ensslin (liz@theinkwellusa.com)

DG Shelby joined Westfield Rotarians on August 31st at Sweet Sounds in downtown Westfield. Rotarians have been soliciting donations and selling military baseball caps to support the homeless veterans project at Community Hope Shelter at Lyons VA. With Shelby’s help, over $500 was raised that night, bringing the total for the summer to over $2,000!

4 other clubs in the district partner with Westfield Rotary on this project: Morristown, Somerset Hills, Watchung-Warren and Berkeley Heights. More clubs are welcome to join in this worthwhile project. Each month, Rotarians deliver items of need (socks, underwear, toiletries, portable chargers, boots, winter coats, pjs’, etc) to the homeless veterans at Community Hope Shelter at the Lyons VA. If your club would like to join us in this effort, please email Burim Regjaj at outtahandpizza@gmail.com.
